The Two Fatalities Identified in the Ivy League School Attack as Law Enforcement Press On With Hunt for Gunman.

The pair of scholars who were killed in Saturday’s tragic incident on the university campus were honored at the start of the week – while an intensive search for their killer carried on following the release by local law enforcement of the only individual detained in connection in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The student Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was described as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, per the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a ceremony on Sunday.

Her role included vice-president of Brown’s chapter of the College Republicans organization, as the club stated. Karoline Leavitt also shared words of sorrow online, saying in part: “Words cannot express. Remembering her kin and peers, above all her mom and dad.”

The Second Victim

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the prestigious university, according to relatives.

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He harbored grand aspirations of entering the field of neurosurgery and helping people,” his sibling Samira said in a online post.

What Happened

Nine more persons were injured in the violent event in the engineering department of Brown’s university in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Law enforcement reported late Sunday that a 24-year-old male arrested in a police operation at a hotel about around 27 kilometers from the scene earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“We have a murderer out there,” declared the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you must reassess and pursue a different angle, and this is precisely what occurred over the last day or so.”

Public Fear

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “This will probably generate renewed concern for our public”.

The gunman began shooting inside a room in the engineering building on Saturday, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a 9mm handgun, a police source informed the Associated Press.

Officers that searched the inn seized two firearms and two loaded 30-round magazines when the suspect was detained, as was reported.

The Wounded Victims

Of the nine hurt, one pupil was released from the hospital, said Brown’s president, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in critical but stable condition, and one was in critical condition, officials reported on Sunday.

An educational institution, a private academy in Durham, North Carolina, said Kendall Turner, Kendall Turner, was among those critically wounded.
