The Renowned Musician Calls On Public Help to Get Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Festive Top Spot.
A charity drive is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project seeks to provide aid to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.
A Chance for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He remarked the potential for an surprise number one.
“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I won't be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”
Resilient Spirit of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.
“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”
Production History and Star-Studded Lineup
The single was laid down in the wake of a solidarity show held in the autumn. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the piece was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.
The impressive roster of artists featured on Lullaby features a group of acclaimed names from the music world. All were part of the earlier concert, which successfully generated a significant sum for relief efforts.
Production and Release
Lullaby was produced by a team of producers and composers. The track showcases a combination of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.
The organizers behind the initiative have stated that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an established charity.
“There is no a fixed goal,” a spokesperson commented. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Of course, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”
The reality in the territory was described as its profound destruction, with a vast majority of property said to be levelled or seriously harmed.
“Against that backdrop, a couple of million won't make an enormous impact. But I think the significant factor is primarily raising awareness for this issue and showing there’s another side to the story.”
The track is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a digital service from later in the month.
