Supporters Urge Custody of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Loyal fans of the actress are urging that a person who leaped a barrier and seized the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared clip shows the Australian man pushing past photographers and charging at Grande while the cast walked down a event pathway flanked by supporters.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the surprised star away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the gathering by event staff.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "released after being taken in", though legal records revealed that he was set to be present on the following morning. It is not clear if he was formally accused.
Record of Incidents
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has disrupted a concert or event. His Instagram account includes videos of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including breaching the performance area at the artist's Sydney show in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last winter.
"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is evidently a punishable act," commented an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen shared of his behavior.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Followers Show Disapproval Over Ariana's Safety
Numerous fans blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed experiencing PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented another message on Instagram.
Several attendees also questioned security officers at the premiere for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals called for online networks to block Mr Wen's content.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In clips shared widely, Grande looked surprised when she was grabbed by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
Numerous of supporters had congregated in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including a number who had queued for as long as eight hours before it started.
The film, to be launched on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a two-part interpretation of the acclaimed stage musical Wicked, which centers on the surprising bond between two distinct sorceresses.
The show itself is a spin-off of the 1900 children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the good witch Glinda, was dressed in a light pink sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who portrays the Elphaba, wore a sleek black dress embroidered with roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing movie of last year in the UK, and earned a dozen award recognitions, securing several for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
