Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it was expected for concerns to be raised about his future after a further heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in 12 games, representing the team's poorest run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got significant backing from management,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to turn it around and get a victory naturally but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal discussions I perceive the belief. However I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over known weaknesses from his squad in their European defeat, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't need to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a spell such as this with outcomes this poor.”

Jones concluded, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“We will attempt to get this team back to where it needs to be, prove once more what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
