Former Physician Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor stands accused of performing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One senior CPS official commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 charges he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
