Esteemed Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Famed For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Dies at the Age of Sixty.
American performer Finn, who was seen in iconic television series including Friends, "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has succumbed at the age of 60.
The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles this Monday after undergoing treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, as reported by reports.
"He considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he didn't know yet," his loved ones shared in a message.
They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with happiness and energy".
A Notable TV Career
His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.
He subsequently landed a recurring role on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.
He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a host known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.
During the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous hit series, such as:
- The King of Queens
- Friends
- "That '70s Show"
- House
His most famous role for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons over nearly a decade.
His work in movies encompass It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
Beyond the Screen
Away from his television work, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was part of a comedy group of six named Beer Shark Mice.
"Pat coached, befriended and mentored many learners over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
In a tribute, fellow actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," he posted publicly.
Pat Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, his children, and his family.
