Assassin's Creed Introduces Unexpected AoT Event for Holiday Season
In a surprising partnership that defies usual expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Mission Disclosed
According to the formal announcement, "A mysterious confrontation leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where rumors of banned rituals and fearsome metamorphoses reverberate through the darkness." The storyline introduces a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who charges the pair with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a hidden sect.
The adventure concentrates on "bizarre tests and a terrifying enemy" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Metamorphoses
The trailer highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview ends with a striking moment showing a character, probably the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Rewards and Additional Content
Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an special katana together with multiple artifacts concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Exclusive arms
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Content
This release also introduces the game's third free story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic abilities: Naoe introduces a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Previous Anime Crossovers
This marks hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime series. The series earlier showcased a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally contained a quest that obviously nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
